Question:

Doing jail instead of probation?

I was arrested for a second misdemeanor dui/dwi and through a plea bargain I can spend a 7 days in jail and get 3 years probation.

I've given up drinking as of a few months ago and want to move on to achieving some life goals as I am still young. Some of the restrictions of my probation may make it difficult or impossible to move forward over the next three years so I was wondering if I could just serve jail straight up for X amount of time and get it over with. Thanks...

  1. It's all up to the judge bro.

  2. dude if it's only 7 days? over 3 years probation? honestly i would take the jail time.

  3. Either way you will have a hard time moving forward.

If you take probation you will be tied down and will find it hard to move around and possibly find it hard to keep work.

If you do the jail time that will stay with you forever and could have the same effect.

I suggest that you get your lawyer to see if he can square a better deal for you with the judge ..or else you are screwed.

  4. Why accept probation at all?  I mean youre already doing jailtime, you shouldve had them just use prison as punishment.
