  1. There are many different types of psychologists. In the UK, to become a clinical psychologist you must:

    * Do a British Psychological Society accredited BSc degree in Psychology / or do a 1 year conversion course after a degree in a different subject.

    * Then you have to get at least a years worth of work experience with a clinical psychologist or within an establishment that caters for people who use psychological services.

    * You then apply for a place on doctorate course in clinical psychology which is very competitive.

For information on modes of entry for other psychological divisions in the UK visit the BPS website.

    http://www.bps.org.uk/careers/careers_ho...

Best of luck with your course

  2. To be a psychologist you'll need to get your Ph.D.

Get your undergraduate degree, a bachelors (4 years).

    Get your masters (~2 years).

    Get your doctorate (4-6 years).

You'll also need clinical experience/internships, etc. - you should talk with an adviser at your school and they'll tell you exactly what you need to be planning on. They should give you an adviser in the psych department and they'll be able to tell you what classes to take, how long it'll take, what graduate work you'll need, how to prepare for it, etc.
