Dokic was knocked out of the Australian Open in the first round after a tumultuous build up to the tournament. In the wake of that Dokic said she wouldn’t play Fed Cup in February because she didn’t want to let the side down. But it seems she later made herself available, only to miss selection.

Australia Fed Cup captain David Taylor is quoted on the Tennis Australia website as saying, “Jelena declared herself available. But, obviously she has had a very tough couple of weeks. Right now I think she needs to get away and sort things out in her head. Why put her through the scrutiny of the Fed Cup tie when she is suffering like that?”
