Dolphins in Baja California in June?

Question

I am going to Loreto, B.C.S. in June and although I know that the season for whale-watching is over but I was wondering if dolphins still are spotted in June in these waters, especially the Sea of Cortez side.

We sailed from Acapulco up the coast and over to La Paz .

We went up the Sea of Cortez to Concepcion and across to Sa Carlos.

I can tell you one thing for certain --There is no shortage of dolphins.  We saw millions.

I have photos of at least 500 dolphin fins and the other 500 were submerged as they circled their prey.

grew up their and was able to see them year round. although some months more than others.

used to go to the beach and wade out into the surf. they were not afraid of you. and it was a blessing when I saw them knowing that it usually meant that the sharks were not around

I would definately take the trip and will go back as soon as I am able.

I would have to respectfully disagree with the first poster and say yes, dolphins and whales can indeed be spotted all year long in the Sea of Cortez. Baja's primary and most distinctive attraction is its amazingly rich marine life. The Sea of Cortez, on the peninsula's eastern side, is a "year-round home" to dolphins, sea lions and a dozen whale species, including the blue whale (at 100 feet, the largest animal on the planet). Come February, Baja is a breeding ground for yet more whales, including the Pacific gray. Loreto, B.C.S.is a favorite place of mine. Buen viaje mi amiga!

Hola.  I like to kayak and camp on the beaches of the islands in the sea of cortez, and I can tell you at any time of the year you will spot dolphins.  They are not migratory like whales.  Some like to jump right over your kayak or boat and definately swim close enough to get a good look at you.  They are very curious.
