Dolphins v Sri Lanka A - Sri Lanka A tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 - Tour Match – Day 2 - Live Score and Update
Sri Lanka A 227 v Dolphins 361/7 (99.0 ov) - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dolphins-c781 lead by 134 runs with 3 wickets remaining in the 1st innings
The second day of the three-day match between Dolphins and Sri Lanka A, belonged to the hosts as they hammered their first innings to a resounding total of 361 runs and are still going strong for the loss of seven wickets in response to Sri Lanka A’s first innings total of 227 runs, at Kingsmead, Durban.
After ending the first day of play on a total of 36 runs for the loss of two wickets, Dolphins needed to give a better show on Monday, and that is exactly what they did, with their batsmen taking full responsibility.
K Zondo and N Govender, who did not have much time to bat a day earlier, exhibited their fine class on the second day, as they smashed some of the finest shots in modern-day cricket.
Right from the word go, the two batsmen just snapped and made sure not to let the bowling side gain any momentum, which would bring any encouragement to them.
It was vital for the two to stay on the wicket for as long as possible to make things a bit easier for the remaining batsmen in the batting line-up.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 needed to break this lethal partnership, if they wanted to gain something positive from the match, however, their bowling attack was left in ruins and without any ideas, as almost every bowler got hit, failing to restrict the batsmen from playing on their own terms.
Finally the partnership met its demise with 127 runs on the board, as Pushpakumara, trapped Govender right in front of stumps, after the batsman had amassed an innings of 43 runs.
C Chetty, then jabbed a useful knock of 29 runs, before it was time for him to walk off the field as he was dismissed by Pushpakumara on a total of 185 on the board.
If Sri Lanka thought they had seen enough batting from Dolphins, they were in for a surprise as Dolphins’ skipper, D Smit, hammered an impressive knock of 74, to leave everyone mesmerized.
Meanwhile, Zondo belted an astounding innings of 169 runs, to put his team in a dominating position by the end of the second day’s play.
