Okay school started two days ago and I was absent the second day because of doctor.

Today In algebra she was messing with parent funtions particularly y=1/x and she started a problem and worked all the way up to finding the domain. She want's us to find the range for homework.

And I have no clue but here are the coordanites for the T chart

(-1/3,-3)

(-1/2,-2)

(-1,-1)

(-3,-1/3)

So if you would please find the domain and range for that and explain how to do so. It would be terrific!

  1. I'm not so sure but the Domain is the X and the Range is Y

    Plug in the coordinates to the corresponding variables...

    (x, y) (-1/3, 3) x = -1/3 y = 3

    So just plug in the points.

    3 = 1/ -1/3 <== That's not it because take the reciprocle of -1/3 and it becomes -3 times 1 = -3 and 3 doesn't equal -3

    Next one.

    -1/2 = 1/-2 <== I think that's the right answer... Since -1/2 = -1/2

    Next one.

    -1 = 1/-1 <== That's also correct... -1 = -1

    Next one.

    -3 = 1/ -1/3 <== The reciprocal of -1/3 = -3 <== That's correct too.

    So your domain is -1/2, -1, and -3. The range is -2, -1, and -1/3

    Hope this helped!!
