If I were to transfer my domain from one host to another will my email account in the former webhost still function otherwise what will I need to do?

  1. Usually when you transfer a domain, you are switching ISPs. If so, your email account will not work once the account is canceled. You can transfer the email using the temporary mail server assigned when you start the transfer. If you are just transferring the domain name to a different service, but not changing ISPs, then your email should remain active. You would simply be changing the DNS server for your domain name but the DNS entries would point to the same email server.


  2. If the email and web hosting services are attached to the domain name for free, then you will certainly lose them when you transfer. You should contact the new host and have them activate email accounts on their server when the transfer is finalized.
