Question:

Dome light, interior door lights, and plow lights won't come on in 2007 Dodge Ram 2500?

Hi,

Family has just purchased a barely used 2007 Dodge Ram 2500. I have recently found that the central dome light and the interior door lights that should turn on when you open the doors do not light up at all. However, the reading lights in the front work fine. In addition, the plow lights that should turn on with the headlights do not work. This is a brand new minute mount 8' plow and the connection cables are fine and on tight. Before we go to the dealer, I thought I would post the problem up on yahoo questions. Any diagnostics or advice is much appreciated. Is it a fuse or something? I'm not very mechanically inclined, so please simplify anything technical.

Thanks again

  1. The interior lights sounds like a blown fuse...I would check the fuse for interior lights first.

As far as the plow lights go, I would search the inside of the truck for a switch the previous owner may have added. The 2007 ram has daytime driving lights right? So as soon as you start the truck the headlights and plow lights would come on if they were wired with the headlights.

Im thinking he probably wired it with a seperate switch somewhere..look under the dash, in the glove box look for some type of toggle.

Did you actually turn the headlights on, or they came on when you started the truck so you assumed the plow lights should come on? Try actually turning the headlights on if you haven't already.

  2. for the dome light, check you fuses carefully, and make sure there isn't a switch to turn it off(Check owners manual) the Plow lights should have a seperat switch to turn them on ONLY when you are using plow. It should trun on the AUX headlights, possibly even turning off the stock ones at same time. look for a switch somewhere on the dash, including along the bottom.

  3. YES! it should be the fuses that are old or are damaged and thats why its not working. but go ahead to the company make sure. not every time i or someone might be right.
