The Zenit defender has criticised Cesare Prandelli for dropping him from the final selection just because a notice was served; maintains that he has not done anything wrong in his life.
Domenico Criscito has voiced his disapproval for Cesare Prandelli’s decision to leave him out of Italy’s Euro 2012 squad, and has stated that he was completely ready to travel to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032 with his team.
The Zenit centre-back was left out of the final 23-man squad for the upcoming European tournament, after his room at Italy’s training base was raided by police.
The Azzurri chief later clarified that he decided to leave the former Genoa-man out because he believes that the defender would have struggled to focus on the competition.
Criscito stated that he has maintained a clean conscience all his life, and insisted that he will not let anybody make a scapegoat out of him for things he has not done.
The Zenitchiki player complained that the Italian Football Federation should have verified that he is not a party to any wrongdoing. The former Juventus player stated that the raid was shocking for him as well, but maintained that
he was still mentally good to participate in the Euros.
Criscito stated that the investigators communicated to his lawyers that he was not going to be interrogated anytime soon, and revealed that he was also cleared by the prosecutors to participate in the European tournament.
While talking to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the 25-year-old said:
“I have not done anything wrong in my life. I’m not going to be a scapegoat for situations that have nothing to do with me. Perhaps the Italian Football Federation should have read the order and verified that I’m not a part of
this. I was shocked by what happened, but I was ready to go to the championship. The prosecutors told my lawyers that I would not be questioned anytime soon. I was told that there would be no problem in me taking part in the competition.”
While the Zenit St Petersburg full-back was dropped from the squad, Cesare Prandelli has included Juventus’ http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-Bonucci-c22064 even though he is also under investigation.
Criscito concluded that they both deserved to be part of the European competition, and stated that it is unfair to take the notice of enquiry to mean that one is guilty.
