The Zenit St Petersburg left back went on to state that even though he was relieved that the uncertainty came to an end, he still had regrets over the incident.
Probably the only player who would feel hard done by the Scommessopoli controversy would have to be Domenico Criscito. The Italian was sent back home following allegations of his involvement in the fixing of matches from the national team squad from the
European Championship in 2012.
The defender was distraught after learning his fate that he would have to return due to the uncertainty surrounding the investigation. Many considered the decision taken against the Zenit man to be extremely harsh, given the fact that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-Bonucci-c22064 was
indicted in the same case, and Bonucci was afforded a place in the squad that went on to face the Champions of Europe in the finals of Euro 2012.
Criscito had always maintained his innocence in the matter and despite all the allegations posed against him by the Italian authorities regarding sporting fraud, he went on to comment that he knew nothing of the matter.
The verdict regarding the cases against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rodrigo-c31437 Palacio, Dario Dainelli and Domenico Criscito was handed out and they dropped the case against the alleged due to a lack of evidence.
While talking to the team of Sky Sport Italia, the Zenit St Petersburg full back went on to comment that he was glad by the result that had come about due to the verdict but there was bitterness as well, and remarked:
“I am very happy, as this is a good day for me. At the same time, I remain very angry at losing the chance to go to the Euros, especially as I always maintained my innocence.”
When quizzed whether he will be compiling a counter case against the allegations that were piled against him, he went on to state:
“Will I request compensation? No, that’s not even an option. I am trying to take this situation in a calm manner, even if I have been scarred by the experience.”
Criscito has been excluded from the squad that went on international duty to play for the World Cup qualifiers.
