i was wondering if i got a domestic bunny would it be like having a cat or dog... can i let it run around my house free... i don't really like the idea of having a DOMESTIC bunny cooped up in a cage all the time... i think it would be cool to have a bunny that just chills around the house like a dog or cat would... also i was wondering if you would have to give it substantial time out side... would keeping it inside like a house cat be bad for it... Please make sure you get to all the questions inside this question... Please...

  1. Having a bunny is a great idea. My bunny has a great personality and is almost like a small dog. If you want to let it out, make sure its trained not to p**p outside its cage or litterbox. I leave mine out for 45min-1hour eachtime i bring it out, only because after a period time he sort of loses it and wants to mark its territory all the time. By bunny HATES the outdoors. everytime i bring it out he wants to go back in, but when we go on picniks he ok.

  2. Yes they do make good pets, the larger breeds usually make better free range house rabbits and are usually more affectionate. Being spayed/neuteured helps with litter training and makes them calmer and less destructive. Make sure you do your research before adopting a rabbit by googling some sites to make sure you are ready for one and try some animal shelters before going to petshops.

  3. I've known someone who had two rabbits roaming around their house, just pet proof the house and keep an eye out for them.  Their teeth can do as much damage as a cat's claw on a leather sofa.  They can be litter box trained.  Also, they love big houses to roam around in.  You can take them out to the park on a leash (or not if you trust that he/she won't run away from you) for the best exercise.  Having a companion like another rabbit or even a cat is a good idea too.

  4. No it won't be good.Rabbits aren't like cats and dogs. They would chew oon wiers and in a such a big area like your house it would be imposible to train it. I would recommand getting a rabbit from a rabbit breeder. You could let them rum around your house every now and then but you should keep a close watch on them!!!

  5. a bunny or Rabbit could make a very good pet.  The biggest thing to me, to remember is they are chewers.  Several of my baby show rabbits that I have sold went on to be house rabbits and they are allowed, with supervision to run free around the house.  Their cages are their home and safe spot.  Rabbits can't be let loose to run free while you are not home, they are very mischievous.  The rabbits can also be house trained/litter box trained like a cat.  Rabbits are a joy to have around, I have several that are so friendly and they love to loaf in my arms or in my lap.

There are many good books that can give you helpful hints on litter box training and bunny proofing your house.
