  1. I encourage you to support a cause that helps ALL victims of DV.  Fact is, at least half of all non-self-defense attacks are against men at the hands of women.

  2. You`re sitting between the two chairs. This really no easy job at all. I think if you contact Centrelink and government department of social security you might the answer.

  3. I'm so glad you're interested in supporting survivors of abuse! We need more people like you!

I would absolutely encourage you to start with your local domestic violence program. Volunteering is a great way to decide if you really like the work, what kind of a job you're like to have (there are several ways you can work in this field), and what skills you need to learn or improve.

Many programs like to hire from volunteers because they are already trained and committed to the program.

If you don't know what agencies are in your area you can call the National Domestic Violence Helpline (1-800-799-SAFE) to find a local program. You can also visit the links I put below for information about different national programs.

Working to end domestic violence is amazing work. Too often other social problems (drug and alcohol addiction, mental health issues, poverty, violence in our community) stems from exposure to violence in the home. When you support a survivor and his/her children to end the violence in their lives, the results can last generations. It is powerful, fulfilling work.

    Good luck!
