Former English pacer and Hampshire skipper, Dominic Cork, has urged his teammates to take full advantage of their chances during the Friends Life Twenty20 competition, starting from today at The Rose Bowl.
The second edition of English domestic Twenty20 tournament, Friends Life T20, will begin with a high-voltage game between Hampshire and Somerset. The Hawks sealed an emphatic victory in the first edition of the Twenty20 tournament last year by beating http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852
in the final match.
Although, the Hampshire side has not been able to make an impression so far in the season, Cork believes that the side has decent chances to go all the way in the tournament. However, he made it clear that there will not be any room for side to make mistakes
in today’s game against tournament favourite, Somerset.
"I'm a bit like Sepp Blatter at the moment in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843. We've got a
side that can do it but ultimately it's down to who plays best on the occasion," said Cork.
Cork further described that the Hawks will have to pick the winning momentum from the first game in order to produce good results in the tournament. Meanwhile, he asked his players not to relax for even a second as there are some dangerous sides in the competition.
The lanky pacer added, "There are a lot of teams who are all dangerous, even teams who haven't gone too well in the championship. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kent-c802, for instance, can be very dangerous, they've got a lot of experienced batsmen.”
Cork, referring to Hampshire’s excellent performance last year, hoped that the players will replicate the performance that they demonstrated in the previous edition.
During the imminent second edition of the tournament, every team will play 16 group matches before qualifying into the second round. Cork put in simple words that the team will have to learn things quickly in a bid to stay afloat in the tournament.
