Hampshire vice-captain Dominic Cork has signed a new one-year deal to stay at the county for the 2011 season.
Cork took 45 wickets in the County Championship last season as well as guiding the team to glory in the English Twenty20 competition. He says he's delighted with the deal and feels he still has a lot to
offer the county.
"After such a fantastic season it was just a matter of time before I committed myself to another year at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rose-c86842 Bowl.
I was immensely proud to win the t20 cup and to captain the team generally for the second half of last season," he said.
The 39-year-old will be one of the oldest players on the domestic circuit next season. However, his game is still good enough for him to play a big part in Hampshire's
season.
A quality player
Cork's biggest asset is with the ball. He has lost a lot of pace as he has got older but he still moves the ball through the air and off of the seam. This makes it difficult
for many batsmen to play against him in typical English conditions.
Cork has more experience than the majority of county players. This makes him key in helping younger players come through the ranks at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789. Cork can play an active
role in the coaching and development of younger players.
Cork is a very popular member of the dressing room. He still likes to put smiles on faces and this is important in keeping team morale high over the course of a long season.
This also makes him approachable for non-cricket related matters.
"Thankfully, I still feel able to do a job for Hampshire and so I'm delighted
to be coming back and I look forward to hopefully winning a few more trophies next year," he added.
Betting advice
Cork is a very consistent and effective bowler. There is a good chance he'll be one of the top wicket takers in the country next summer. Back him to take five wickets in any
game that he plays whether he's vice-captain or captain.
