Dominic Inglot wins over Austin Karosi to qualify for the round one – Malaysian Open 2012
Right-hander, Dominic Inglot, prevail over his rival, Austin Karosi, in the final qualifying round of the Malaysian Open 2012 held in the indoor hard courts of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Brit collected his straights
sets win, 6-2, 6-2, in one hour to reach the main draw of the event.
The 26-year-old, Inglot, held his initial serve in the opener and confidently marched forward to battle against all the odds. The score line levelled down to 2-all in the fourth game but that was Karosi’s last
strike against his rival. Inglot shattered his confidence by breaking his serve in the sixth game and attained a 4-2 lead. The American junior did not show any resistance, which helped Inglot cruise through the set with commanding ease. He boldly nudged forward
to steal the last two games and busted Karosi’s serve in the last game, marking a 6-2 score.
The right-hander American contestant manifested 50 percent initial serve accuracy, converting seven of 12 first and four of 12 second delivery points. In response to that, the British challenger did not even
double fault once, with 59 percent first serve presentation, bagging away 10 of 13 first and seven of nine second serve points. He capitalized all the two break points presented to him, whereas Karosi could not even clamp one.
In the next set, the 22-year-old American was extremely low on confidence and was unable to sustain his initial serve. The British participant made maximum use of the opportunity and clinched the initial three
games, trudging a 3-love lead. He advanced without facing any difficulty and maintained his upper hand throughout the set. Like before, he clinched the last two games and closed the set with a 6-2 win.
The British senior displayed an improved first serve precision of 76 percent, pocketing away 12 of 13 first and all four of the second delivery points. Karosi could only attain 62 percent initial serve, 12 of
18 first and only three of 11 second serve points. He was unable to snatch even a single serve break; fortunately, his challenger bagged away two of five break points.
