Dominic Kinnear bags praises for bringing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Houston-Dynamo-c39542 back to MLS Cup
Houston Dynamo are back into the MLS Cup contention and credit must go to head coach Dominic Kinnear for his efforts in rebuilding the team in the eighteen months.
The team had difficult runs down the stretch in 2009 and 2010. They narrowly missed out on the 2009 MLS Cup fina,l but last year was a disaster. After the departures of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ricardo-Clark-c30978 and Stuart Holden in 2010, the franchise had a huge void to fill and failed
to qualify for play-offs.
“I think that the hardest part for us in the last couple of years, in 2009, we came ever so close to making it to the final, and the following year, the departures of Ricardo Clark and Stuart Holden, it was a big gap to fill,” Kinnear said in a press conference
on Thursday.
This season, Die Oranje went through major changes in order to reinforce the squad. SuperDraft pick Will Bruin, loaned players Luiz Camargo and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adam-Moffat-c3548 all paid dividends.
The team is back in contention for silverware and face one of the toughest teams in the league at their own back yard. The Orange play the MLS Cup final against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Los-Angeles-Galaxy-c39818 at The Home Depot Center on November 20.
The Dynamo skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brian-Ching-c8054, praised Kinnear for his efforts since the team moved from San Jose to Houston in 2006. The striker insisted that the Dynamo would not have been this successful had it not been for Kinnear and his sporting acumen.
“I don’t think Dom gets enough credit for the amount of changes this team has been through,” said Ching. “If you look at the final in ‘07 and you look at the final this year, I don’t think we’ll have a single player that played in the ‘07 final.”
If Dynamo win the final on Sunday, it will be their third cup in six years and the man in spotlight will certainly be Dominic Kinnear for his efforts in building a team from scratch.
