  1. Rain in august? I highly doubt it

don't worry about the weather it'l be fine nd you will hve a great time i promise!!

swimming with dolphins can be done at ocean world. Me nd my family did it here and hd a great time! we loved it!

while we were in dominican we did a few trips. We went quad biking and saw all the old towns which was fun nd interesting.. we also went on the cable cars which was absolutely awesome yet scary. The views were immense, as mentioned earlier we swam with dolphins and then we took tours round puerto plata shopping visiting cigar and rum factorys as well.

However, my second time to dominican republic i spent two days horse riding cow boy style because we loved it so much the first day!!

Its advertised as trail blazing nd is based at a place called rancho lorilar in puerto plata run by a canadian couple. It is truely amazing!!

we rode through sugar cain fields, swam in rivers, rode cowboy style(which is fun) nd saw every possible amazing view in puerto plata! we stopped for lunch at local restaurants in the hills.. oh i miss it! lol bt i have already been twice in the last 4 months!

i better stop rambling bt u get my point!

im so jelous, i hope you have a great time!!!

  2. Im going Aug 30 to Sept 6. were you saying in the Playa Dorada. Im staying at the Wyndham.

  3. if u want to swim with dolphins most hotels run free shuttle bus to water park dont use ur hol rep they s***w u over , see the trips outside ur hotel in morn and book direct with dem .. take US dollars wth u too.rain usually at uk winter time but ur der hurricane season june to oct. good trips to do mmmmm snorkling and der 1 to der local school and village , quad bike rides , horse riding on beach , where ever u go always loads of booze , best beaches on east of island punta cana , bavaro area, booze der too lol, some hotels do all inclusives f**s if u smoke . tip barman couple bucks every day or so and maid for good service and dey get u booze and coffee for room too

  4. Hurricane season usually runs from about June to November, but its not a huge risk no, Ive been in September, and while there were a few downpours, it was still lovely and hot and didnt spoil the holiday at all, only thing that spoiled it was not being able to travel outside of the hotel! Lol. If you want to check any risks, go to this website, it has the travel advice than you need to know.

    :)

Also check with your resort rep about any excursions that may be to a sea life centre, theres not many I think :S Its better to travel with the travel company than on your own, your likely to be hassled if travelling in your own group.

Good Luck! Hope you have a good time!

  5. The chart below shows the average rainfall and temperatures by month for DR. The odds are in your favor because it averages about 10 rainy days a month. The bottom line is that it's pretty bad, but not as bad as October.

  6. Hi Sara !,

Puerto Plata in August?September, normally very hot (80F+), but with some breeze from the Atlantic. Sometimes a bit of rain in the late afternoon, but nothing to spoil your time with us!!.

    - Swim with Dolphins is at Ocean World ( 170 us p.p.)

    - Monster Truck Safari ( 90 us p.p.)

    - Cayo Arena ( Paradise Island - 75 us p.p.)

    - Shopping 1/2 day in Puerto Plata + Isabella de Torre (cable car) - 35 us p.p.)

(This price are estimated due to fuel prices) Don't buy tours from tour operator reps or in or near hotels they are to expensive. If you need more info let me know.

    Happy to help you.

    Happy Feet

  7. You will get some rain and it will be red hot.

Go on the cats. Go on the outback safari. The dolphins are in Confressi and cost about $200 us.

    Go to paradise island.

If you dive don't its c**p.

Spend a day a Sosua and go snorkelling.

    Go up the cable car.

Walk around Puerto PLata and have a beer in Sams.

Go to Costambar for a day and eat on the beach.

Haggle with the Taxi drivers they will come down in price.

The reps will try and sell you trips - go and buy them off of Dieter in Marysol travel in the shopping center (he work from 14:00 on wards).

    This should keep you busy.
