Im 17 years old and im going to D.R. for the first time without my parents, one of my freinds told me that i need some kind of "consent form" becasue im "underage." Is this true? I guess it would be for doing things like hotel check-ins and whatever. Can anybody please confirm this, if so, where can i get the forms !?!? Thank you in advance.

  1. You need consent, a letter from you parents notarized giving you permission to travel alone to another country. You also need a tourist card from the Dominican embassy in your state, and have fun with caution. also your allowed to drink from the age of 18. so have safe fun.

  2. No hotels will allow you in them without someone 18 or older in your room.  as far as a consent form I do not believe that is needed as long as someone is 18 or older but to be on the safe side you should check directly with the hotel and just have your parents write a note anyway saying they are aware of where you are.

  3. yes you do a consent form, they do have a legal drinking age but nobody cares about it, if you have a american passport you are ok just be ready to spend big bucks for the visitor pass. don't forget about the 80 dollars you will need to leave the country. what consern to the hotel i can't help you

  4. Airlines accept passengers ages 13-17 traveling alone to all international locations provided they have a notarized Letter of Consent signed by one parent or legal guardian.  A notarized Letter of Consent is required and must be presented to  Airlines at time of check in.Passengers must be able to present valid passports/travel documents proving citizenship, .Customers 12 years of age and younger MUST be accompanied by a passenger who is at least 18 years of age.

Customers 18 years of age and older do NOT require a notarized Letter of Consent when traveling alone.

  5. Yes you need a special document (consent form). I suggest you take contact with the Dominican Embassy in your country, they will gladly help you with this matter. Also they will need a fund (money) to back-up you in case of emergency.

If you go to Puerto Plata, just let me know, I'll try to help you as best as possible. Happy to help you.
