  1. If you don't know spanish, better US

  2. It is much easier (and cheaper) to get a divorce in the DR. Avoid scams & get info directly from the Dominican consulate or do a search online.

  4. It's way easier to divorce in the Dominican Republic. So divorce there.

  5. She can divorce easily in the DR without having to fly down, through a regular Mutual Consent Divorce, if these two facts apply to her case:

    1. They have been married for more than 2 years.

    2. Her husband will be consenting to the divorce.

To avoid coming down she would have to sign a power of attorney for her lawyer to be able to represent her at the divorce hearings.

She can easily hire a reputable english-speaking lawyer and have it done in less than 2-3 months for around US$1,500. Her case does not apply for a Dominican Quick Divorce, which takes much less time to finalize, since it is only open for foreigners or Dominicans that reside abroad. If the husband has a green card, but resides in the DR then they could do it the quick way. You can get more info on this last option here: http://www.drlawyer.com/publications/dom...
