Dominick Cruz to fight Urijah Faber at UFC 148 for the third time – UFC news
Dominick Cruz, the current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight champion, will most probably take on his arch rival Urijah Faber at UFC 148 for the third and last time to put an end to a feud that has mesmerised the mixed martial art fanatics
since 2007.
Dominick and Urijah have a history. Both men have won against each other and are now seeking to determine who is the ultimate fighter. Dominick collided with Urijah for the first time in World Extreme Cagefighting. The bout ended when ‘the Californian Kid’
executed a guillotine choke and gave Cruz his careers first and only loss.
Cruz, infamous as the Dominator, called on Faber again for the second time in order to prove that he has the ability to nail the 32-year-old. Cruz and Urijah met in the UFC octagon on its 132nd pay-per-view and Cruz avenged his careers sole defeat by dominating
Faber completely after collecting a unanimous win.
This will be the third time that both men will collide and might generate the rubber match of the year. Both are 1-1 and the UFC 148 engagement will seal the fact as to who is the best between the two. Cruz has earned his name Dominator genuinely since he
heavily overwhelms his opponents not by his weight or huge size but by his resilience.
Cruz has been in a total 20 mixed martial art brawls and came out victorious in 19. He has collected seven of his brawls by knockout, one by submission, and 11 by either unanimous or split decision. Faber, on the other hand has an experience of 31 brawls.
He came out victorious in 26 bouts and collected nine of his wins by knockout, 12 by submission, and four by decisions. Faber is famous as a submission specialist and Cruz knows it very well.
While giving an interview to Inside MMA, Cruz proudly claimed, "He's not gonna beat me. He doesn't know how. I'm gonna go in there and have my way with him, just like I did in the last fight. Keep the pace high, put him on his butt and beat him down."
Cruz while explaining his claim said, "I'm gonna win the scrambles on him, even if he does try to take me down. And, you know, on the feet, I own the range. He can't control the range because I'm taller than him and I have the reach advantage. I use my angles
and footwork to keep him offset the whole time. That's the key in those fights."
The pay-per-view is expected to get on air from MGM Grand Garden Arena situated in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 7, 2012.
