Dominik Britsch and Roberto Santos to brawl for EU middleweight title in February – Boxing news
Dominik Britsch, the current IBF Intercontinental middleweight champion, will be facing Spaniard Roberto Santos in a 12-round brawl for the vacant EBU-EU European Union middleweight gold.
The fight will be televised live from Porsche-Arena, Stuttgart, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. As of now, 24-year-old Dominik is excited about fighting with the European title in his hometown. Since it is hometown, he wants to be victorious to make his nation
proud.
Both the fighters have more or less the same experience in regards to the number of brawls they have fought so far. Britsch has entered the brutal ring 26 times and has emerged winner in all of them, hence he holds an undefeated streak.  Roberto, on the
contrary, has been in 25 brawls and has emerged victorious in 17.
Dominik is a resilient pugilist who plays the game strategically. He has knocked out only nine opponents in his career, which is enough proof of the German’s resilience.
While sharing his excitement, Dominik commented, “It’s pretty cool to fight right on my doorstep as lots of fans are going to show up supporting me. I can’t wait for it!” The 30-year-old Roberto will face a huge disadvantage of anti-Spanish crowd. However,
he is confident that this drawback will not pull him down and that he will move onto the nail his opponent.
Roberto, praising his Saturday night opponent remarked, “Certainly, Britsch is a technically-sound boxer, but I see myself as the better fighter all-around and that’s why I’m going to beat him. I have watched some of his bouts on tape – he’s pretty good
at using some fast hands to pile up points but at the same time the guy often goes back into a passive mode which will clearly cost him when he steps inside the ring with me.”
Dominik will try his level best to not only protect his winning streak but to also grasp the European apex title, which will finally open his doors to other European or even World championship bouts. Both men will collide on February 25, 2012.
