Dominika Cibulkova: A look at her performances this year
 
Born on May 6, 1989 in the city of Piestany, Dominika Cibulkova is a professional tennis player from Slovakia. The twenty one year old Slovakian is also a former third ranked junior player who achieved that ranking back in 2005 during the month of May. Her career highest world ranking of number twelve was achieved last year during the month of July. The Slovakian is currently ranked number forty five in the world. Her best appearance so far was a semi final run at the French Open tennis tournament back in 2009.
As far as her performances this season are concerned, Dominika started the year strongly by making her way into the quarter final round of the ASB Classic tennis tournament where she got the better of Aravane Rezai in a total of two sets before falling down to her top seeded foe, Flavia Pennetta in a two setter quarter final clash. The final match score was 6-1, 6-2.
The twenty one year old Cibulkova next participated at the Medibank International tennis tournament as her second contest of the year. The Slovakian did well to once again reach the quarter final stage and defeated the third seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova before falling down Victoria Azarenka in a total of three sets. The final match score was 2-6, 6-2, 7-5.
At the hard court Australian Open tennis tournament, Cibulkova was seeded number 23. The right handed player however was upset by Vania King in the opening round of the competition in a total of three sets. The final match score was 6–3, 6–7(5), 7–5.
Seeded fourth at the 2010 Monterrey Open, Dominika did well to reach the quarter final round of the tournament. In the quarters, she beat the fifth seeded, Agnes Szavay in straight sets however was defeated by her compatriot opponent, Daniela Hantuchova in the semi final round in a total of three sets.
The Slovakian next participated at the 2010 BNP Paribas Open where she was upset by Sara Errani in the round two after receiving a first round bye. At the 2010 Sony Ericsson Open, Dominika was dismissed in the third round by Justine Henin in a total of two sets. The final match score was 6–4, 6–4.
The Bratislava resident next contested at the 2010 French Open tennis championship, where she did well to advance in the semi final round last year. However, she lost in the round three to the World number two, Venus Williams in a total of two sets. The final match score was 6-3, 6-4.
She then competed at the 2010 UNICEF Open tennis championship, where she was thrashed out by Kirsten Flipkens in a total of two sets in the quarter final round.
At the grass court Grand Slam tournament, Dominika could not pass the third round of the competition and was eliminated by the top ranked Serena Williams in straight sets.
She was then dismissed in the first round of the 2010 Banka Koper Slovenia Open by Ksenia Pervak in a total of two sets. The final match score was 6-1 6-3.
As far as the ongoing final Grand Slam of the season, the United States Open tennis tournament is concerned, Dominik Cibulkova has successfully managed to make her way into the quarter final round of the major event on the second occasion in her career. She got the better of Lourdes Dominguez Lino, Stefanie Vogele, Kateryna Bondarenko as well as Svetlana Kuznetsova on her way into the quarters. The Slovakian will next take on, the top seeded, Caroline Wozniacki for a semi final berth at the United States Open tennis tournament in New York.
