Dominika Cibulkova found her rhythm for the US Open (Part One) – Tennis Special

Slovakian number one, Dominika Cibulkova, is all geared up for the US Open 2012, last of the four Grand Slam events held in Flushing Meadows, New York City. She recently captured her second career title and is in superb run of
form.
The gorgeous Slovak is on fire this circuit as she conquered her second WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) career title at the Mercury Insurance Open in Carlsbad and secured a title-round appearance at the Barcelona Ladies Open in
Spain.
Cibulkova conquered her first WTA title at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow last fall. She stunned top seeded Vera Zvonareva before slaying Elena Vesnina with a bagel in the final four. The Slovak outshined the Estonian number one Kaia
Kanepi in the final showdown and stole the show at this hard court tournament.
The Slovak was quoted after claiming her first career title at this Premier-level event held in Russia:
"In Moscow I never had a title before, and everybody was talking to me about the title, and it was a little bit too much pressure. The final there was really crazy. When I won the match point there I felt like something maybe happened;
today I knew the feeling. You want to really win the tournament."
Regardless of sealing the 2011 season with a trophy, the Slovak lost her path towards the 2012 circuit. She bowed out to the former world number five, Daniela Hantuchova, in the opening round of Brisbane International. She carried
her drastic ways in the following tournaments and lost in the second round of the Apia International Sydney (lost to top seeded Caroline Wozniacki) and the Australian Open, first of the four Grand Slam events held in Melbourne.
Cibulkova managed to dump the French contestant, Pauline Parmentier, at the Fed Cup but fell on a three match losing streak which saw her exiting from her opening matches at the Pattaya Open, Qatar Ladies Open and the Dubai Duty
Free Tennis Championships.
The 23-year-old snapped out from her losing streak at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells after registering a 2-1 retirement victory against her compatriot, Magdalena Rybarikova. Apart from crashing out to 21st seeded
Roberta Vinci in the following round,  the Slovak managed to make a third round showing at the next tournament, Sony Ericsson Open, she entered.
Cibulkova entered this circuit as the world number 18 but climbed one spot in the WTA Premier Rankings after making a third round showing at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Miami. She found her early momentum as she devastated
Anna Tatishvili and Jie Zheng before bowing out to the Belarusian number one, Victoria Azarenka, in gruelling three sets.
The Slovakian icon may have suffered a poor start of the season but she made a spectacular comeback in the clay season. Cibulkova breezed past her rivals to make a title-round appearance at the Barcelona Ladies Open and quarter-final
showings in Rome, Brussels and French Open.
