Dominika Cibulkova sacks Magdalena Rybarikova in 1st round – Toray Pan Pacific Open 2011
Fourteenth seeded Dominika Cibulkova sacked the unseeded Slovak, Magdalena Rybarikova in the opening draw of the Toray Pan Pacific Open 2011. On the 27th of September, the contesters clashed it out on the hard outdoor
courts of the Ariake Colosseum, Tokyo, Japan. In one hour and fifty eight minutes Cibullkova got rid of the Slovak Rybarikova by bouncing back from a set down to secure her victory of 2-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Cibulkova won the service toss and opted to serve first and the two players held serve for the first two games to spin the score board at 1-1. However, first to break was the Slovak, who wanted to teach Cibulkova a lesson.
Rybarikova was far behind in the WTA rankings than Cibulkova but the Slovak was a good competition and by using her technique of serve-break-serve, she broke the higher ranked Slovak (Cibulkova) for the second time and as she held
serve, she was leading 5-1.
Although the higher ranked Slovak was a bit flabbergasted, she held serve for the second time in the set and had won only two games in the entire set. Nevertheless, as Rybarikova held serve in the last game, she scored an easy
victory over her compatriot.
Opening the second set was Cibulkova again and this she took a notch higher as went on to slapping her compatriot in the face by holding her serve and then breaking her lower ranked challenger in the second game. By the end of
the third game, Cibulkova was leading with a mini break of 3-0.
A little late in the match, Rybarikova held serve for the first time in the third game and in the following two games the players broke each other back-to-back but Cibulkova was leading now with by a break and game at 4-2.
During the last three games the players were able to win on alternate serves and as Cibulkova smashed an ace, she secured a 6-3 victory against Rybarikova.
The contesters’ had bagged a set each and serving for the third set was Rybarikova but she got off on a wrong foot and lost the very first game to Cibulkova. The fourteenth seed was in her form and had set a winning tone. She not
only broke Rybarikova in the first game but broke her in all her service game and held her own service games to secure a bagel victory.
