Question:

Don't You Think?

Don't you think that Cricket is becoming more and more a Batsman's game? See all the new rules ICC is bringing in Cricket eg. Powerplay(Though it's old now), Free Hit etc. And now they're thinking of introducing a pink ball. I personally think T20 is good for entertainment purpose, but it is not doing cricket any good, it's making the younger batsmen become more and more attacking and which is making them more and more unfit to play Test cricket WHICH IS THE REAL CRICKET. Do you guys think this should be encouraged? If this goes on, after 10 years, no Test match will last for more than 3 days, which will be VERY VERY BAD for the game we all love so much. Tell me your opinion..

  1. meet, the genius, cocoon! He has realised the effects this stupid new variation has, good luck to him!

  2. I don't think it's a batsmen's game any more. It is just what is expected of batsmen and bowlers has changed.

In a T20 10 an over is considered par. If a batsmen scores at a 100 strike rate, this is not considered good enough. Although more runs are expected to be scored the BALANCE is still there an it is still possible for bowlers to put in a good performance.

As long as there is a contest then it cannot be claimed that is either a batsmen's or a bowlers game.

As for the effect on Test Cricket we will probably see increase in run rates and more innovative shots. While some purists might not like this, at the end of the day, the aim of a test match player is to win the match and I for one think that the intensity and pressure of a T20 allows for skills and attitudes which when put into the test arena will result in VERY HIGH quality cricket.

  3. i agree has become heaps more of a batsmens game

although the twenty20 cricket is entertaining and promoting the game to people who think it is boring (which it isnt)

  4. Yup, totally it gets on my neves but i like the pink ball!!

  5. Yes, I agree that it is becoming far too batsman dominated. We all want to see sixes and fours, and this is what will pull the crowds in. But the ICC seem to have missed the point that low scoring encounters can be just as exciting: a flurry of wickets is sometimes more entertaining than a batsman repeatedly peppering the boundary.

They need to get the balance right. Boundaries are too small, bats are too heavy, and pitches are too flat. Ideally, there would be something in the pitch for everybody. Obviously, we don't want things going the other way, and being too much in the bowlers favour. A happy medium needs to be found. If not, then the quality of play will suffer, and the ICC will lose any new fans they have found, as seeing colossal totals will become normality, and people will not bother to go. They also need to be careful not to milk the cow of Twenty20 until it is dry. It is popular now because of its novelty value, but this will soon go if they swamp the market with endless Twenty20 tournaments.

  6. oh my god! a pink ball? oh no

  7. I think it's becoming a batsman's game due to the flat wickets being made in India. They should always have a little bit of grass on the wicket so it can make a match more challenging and interesting.

    - Enjoy your weekend

  8. i'm not too sure,
