  1. The only way to get meat that wasn't killed in a slaughterhouse is for someone to go into the wild and shoot the animal on their own.

ALL meat sold in stores comes from animals that went through a slaughterhouse.

  2. They sell free range animals that were raised on open land, but all animals are sent to slaughter houses. Its usually whether they are raised on open land with lots of room and good hygiene and all together live good lives before they are sent to slaughter, or if they are kept in the tiny cramped stalls and cages of many commercial animal farms where they live all of their lives in substandard crowded and dirty conditions.

  3. Yes they sell animals that were raised on farms but they still go to slaughter.

  4. well how did you think they killed them???? god eat some meat its good for you

  5. Okay, well, first lets get some things straight.

    1. All animals are raised on farms or ranches. They don't bring the cows up in the same place they kill them.

    2. Slaughterhouses do not use inhumane methods of killing. They do it quick, with either a shock or a stab directly to the head, which is an instant and painless death. Other times, they'll shock an animal to sleep so that when they do kill them, they don't feel a thing.

    3. If you mean "small-farm" like local or organic or something like that, then you might wanna look into it a bit more. I know that on my uncle's farm, he takes good care of all of his animals. But when the time comes, he doesn't worry about painless or humane deaths for the animals. He just does it. So you may be surprised as to which is nicer, the slaughterhouse, or the small farm.

Now, it is possible to get these small farm meats, you just have to look for it. Often times you can find it at the more expensive stores like Whole Foods, or look at your local butcher shop (yes, you have one, you just have to look). Often times you can also find a co-op group where you are connected directly to the farmer or rancher for your meats.

But don't take slaughterhouse meats off of your list. They actually do it a pretty nice way, compared to how it used to be done (cut the throat and catch the blood while the animal is slowly drowning). And many small commercial farms use the exact same methods as the slaughterhouse, the shock or the stab.

    Hope this helps some.

  6. It's your choice, but if you want to eat meat, get it from a local farm, that you can visit. On small farms the farmers get to know the animals and will take extra efforts to not inflict undo pain and suffering.

BTW: I agree with the poster above me, if you can't kill it don't eat it.

  7. you are absolutely correct;thank you for reminding all of us.Whole

Foods is your best choice at the moment

  8. You are asking the Vegetarian section about where you can buy meat from animals that were raised on farms?  Does that make sence to you?  Exactly how do you think those farm raised animals end up on your plate?  They are slaughtered.

  9. Most animals are raised on farms and are butchered in slaughter houses.

  10. Not all beef is derived from factory farms - essentially called feed lots. Many local beef farmers raise their animals in pristine condtions and sell them to a butcher/slaughter house only days before they get that last bonk on the head before they become steaks.

Even in a feed lot, the animal in confined with other animals and sometimes it gets a little crowded.

Sick unhealthy animals do not make money. In fact, they lose money when they need to be treated.

Happy, healthy animals increase profit and quality of product.

It sounds mean because in the end - the do end up on our dinner plates.

Some people still prefer to buy in to the vision that all meat was raised by horrible, mean and cruel people. For the most part, that is not the case.

  11. All animals eventually go to a slaughter house and are treated horrible.

  12. Personally, I believe that if you eat meat, you should kill at least one animal that you then prepare, cook, and eat. If you can do that with a clear conscious, then you're good to go. If you can't, why do expect someone else to do your dirty work?

  13. You should try Kosher meat that is humanely killed.  Jewish people eat kosher and it is a way for you to get that nice juicy steak without worrying about animals.  I am personally not kosher but I am a meat eater.

If you think that we are inhumane then you need to go on to youtube and watch the video of chinese restuarants killing cats over there.  They torture the animals so they will be more "flavorful".

We don't do anything unnessecary to the animals unless it is a meat house that is doing illegal practices but you can't blame EVERY meat house just because a couple are acting up.

Its kinda ironic how PETA never shows a good but always the bad.  Sounds kind of biased and one sided to me.

This is what they give out to poor innocent little children of god!

Its like they care about animals more than they care about people!
