i most definately do not have regular periods, never have and according to my doc i prob never will. since i dont have these how wil i know when i am ready to get pregnant? ive been pregnant before but i always have miscarriages and im sure if i was actually trieing to have one and treating my body better it would probably not end that way. I have been taking prenatal vitamins and things like that. so how can i know that im ovulating without going to the doc and spending lots and lots of money?

  1. I recommend OPKs all the way :] [Ovulation predictor kits]. These can be bought very cheaply in bulk from ebay and similar sites and do the same job as the more expensive brands so I recommend you go with the cheapies. Since your cycles are irregular, aim to start testing from around the 10th day after your period begins and test again every 24-48hours. You will get through a lot of strips this way, but they can be very cheap so you won't be loosing out.

The testing strips are my favourite just because they are so easy to use. They work in the same way as a home pregnancy test, except they measure the level of LH [Lutenising hormone] that is released in large proportion around 24-48hours before your body releases an egg for fertilisation. This is a great way of knowing the best timeframe for babydancing. As soon as I see a positive OPK...I grab the hubby!

Generally speaking, aim to babydance every day or two from the moment you see a positive line, although it doesn't hurt to have s*x every two days throughout your cycle instead if you want to cover your fertile peak. I would only favour the OPKs as a way of putting your mind at rest with verification that you did indeed ovulate in any given month.

Best of luck and babydust to both of us! ***
