The best way to choose a digital camera is decide which features are important to you, and then select the make and model of camera that is best suited to your needs.

You can fill out what features you want, and it will give you a list of cameras to look at. I would then pick out a few cameras and check out some of the other review sites and get a second or third opinion on your choices:

It's up to you on the style. You can get a digital camera, or you could go with a camcorder. Camcorders are cool because they are especially designed for making movies- but most digitals these days will record too.Personally, I love my camcorder, because it takes excellent pictures. Along with videos too! A word of advice- to get a camera that takes really good pictures, look at the megapixel. For instance, 3 is pretty crappy. Now 9..that is a good camera.

The best point and shoot I have ever seen for price, features and quality is the Canon A720IS.  

$200 new from Amazon.com

- 6X Optical Zoom

- Image stabilization

- 8 Megapixels

- AA batteries (rather than rechargable. good for travel).

- Image quality is great!

- Movies are TV quality.

I am a photographer and use the A710IS extensively as a backup camera when I'm on the road. The A720IS is the new model.  Just amazing.
