Question:

Don't only female rabbits have dewlaps?

I adopted a supposed neutered male mini lop and he/she has a big dewlap and made a nest! I thought only females did this! Here is her/his pic. so you can see her/his big dewlap. What do you think?

  1. Haha, I think your rabbit's a female. The dewlap is very obvious and it's very unusual for male rabbits to make nests out of their own fur...but no worries, my male rabbit turned out to be a female rabbit too!

    Pet store clerks aren't exactly the most truthful people out there when in comes to selling pets, so I would suggest confirming if she's at least spayed.


  2. Probably just fat. Males make nests so they have somewhere to sleep. If the rabbit pulled all the hair out of it's stomach to put in the nest (pulled it BALD) you have a female. Otherwise, probably male.

    There are instructions all over the net for sexing rabbits. It's useful talent.
