Yes, I agree fully with what Sourav dada has said! No one could have pointed out the fallacy in Dhoni's decision to skip the test series in Sri Lanka more accurately than Dada. Dhoni having lost to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup, fled like a coward, fearing that he won't be able to do any better in the tests. Also, perhaps, even a stronger reason is that he knows very well that he was responsible for the end of the ODI careers of the 2 great players-Ganguly and Dravid. So, his guilty conscience makes him avoid the them, and that's why he opted out of the test series. MS Dhoni doesn't like the seniors, and that's why probably, he excused himself from being a part of the team in which the seniors are in.

Dada said that when he was the captain, he couldn't have afforded to take "rest" by dropping out of a series like this. As the ODI captain, Dhoni should have shown more responsibility. What CC has said is so true! Dhoni has labelled Ganguly Dravid and Laxman as the "aged players". But inspite of playing for so long, these players never once complained of fatigue, because they had the dedication. Dhoni, on the other hand, has almost just began his career, and is proud of his youth. Still, he is complaining that he is weary of the continuos games. But when there were back to back IPL matches, he never grumbled, because of the huge financial benefits he was recieving. But when it concerned the national team, he never once hesitated to desert the team!

This shows his base atitude and lack of dedication.

If Dinesh Kartick or Parthiv patel performs exceptionally well, and seals their spot in the test team, Dhoni has only himself to blame, and he would deserve to be sacked from the test squad.

With sheer respect to Dada, i wanna say that i don't agree with him! Dhoni was very tired, he was out there on the feild more than anyother players (becoz he is the captain, he is the wicket-keeper and he is one of the main batsman too)...He has been playing continously since his debut in 2004! Dada wasn't playing cricket all these days, so it really easy for him to make such statements! Dhoni is a human being....he isn't a machine so that he can work 24x7! Dhoni has just missed 2 tests since his debut! I think he deserved the rest....he shouldn't over-work himself and cause injury to himself! Dhoni did the right thing!

First of all I congratulate you for this Q.

When I first heard of Dhoni "resting" himself, I thought of a Captain leaving a sinking ship! It is very foolish of him to do it after two defeats. It shows a bad precedent.

He has been saying he is young and the Famous Five are old. Then he behaves like an "old" man and rests.

He lost against Sri Lanka and then "avoids" a series in Sri Lanka. Looks bad. We give him the benefit of doubt. He may be tired. But from the reports from Ranchi, it seems that he seems busy with the new house he is making. Which is also human.

Having said all this, am ending with the fact that he should have been a part of Team India. I agree with ' man..mask' above and with your Q. He will have Kartick to reckon with.

Dhoni could have taken Kartick as a second keeper/ batsman in the Team and gone himself too. Many fans of Senior Players will feel it is justified in in future Dhoni loses the position of wicket keeping for Test matches to Kartick.

its his personal choice. but i would say it would have been good if he has taken rest while IPL was on by opting out of some matches & played the test series for India.

sometimes, when you give opportunity to others, they shut the doors for you and i have a feeling Karthik might shut the doors of Dhoni in test matches, the world is competetive and everyone has to keep up with the pace, no place for the people like Dhoni , who want rest !

i remember the basic nursery class story of a rabit and turtle of a race, lol Dhoni might turn out to be the loser rabit !

Dada (Ganguly ) is a matured man who has seen all crests and troughs of life and is 200% correct !

Dada is absolutely correct.  MS shouldn't have opted 2 rest coz he hasn't cemented his place in the Test squad with a shade difference in WK with his counterparts Kartick  & Patel. He has neither played a match winning inning in Test nor performed superbly as WK. Everybody dreams to get a Test Cap and Dhoni ignores it.  Its not just strange, ridiculous too.  He should have opted 2 rest during the IPL.  (How could he ?  Matter of 6 crores !)
