Question:

Don't use Non-Toyota Oil Filters?

Hi there,

I am considering to change oil on my Toyota Corolla.

Is it a better option to go to Toyota Dealer and do oil change with Genuine Toyota Oils?

Or is it safe if I go to a Firestone store and ask for oil change service for my 18 months car?

Thanks a lot!

  1. If you want to go to firestone for an oil change buy a bunch of filters from Toyota and when you get your oil changed ask them to use the toyota one.  They will use what ever you ask.  Personally I think its all hype.  Try to research for independent testing of your filter choices and you will see what I mean.  You can't trust any testing done by the manufacturer of the filter, this includes Toyota.  They are in the business to sell you filters they aren't going to make themselves look bad.

  2. I work at jiffy lube come on threw and we will take car of your car so you wont have anything to worry about!

  3. I don't see any special reason that you need to go to the dealer to have the oil change,,The main thing is to use the same kind of oil each time you have it change. Make sure that they also put the right amount of oil in the engine.

  4. toyota will tell you this because they want to sell you their filters but their are other filters that will work as good on it ,one thing about the toyota filers that i do like and they filter the oil a lot better than most after market ones do,i keep a lot of these around because of that, that choice would be up to you, they are good filters but others work as good also, fram makes a real good filter, and when i owned my toyota fram was what i used on it,and never had any problems from it,good luck.
