Question:

Don't want 2nd phone line!?

Years ago I had a rommy and she put in her own line. This an old house and they spliced in a dime shaped piece of plastic on the inside terminal and on the outside terminal. Can I just take out the gizmo from both splices and clear this line for an extension?

She may have had a 'buddy' do the work!

  1. is there still service for the second line?

do you want to use the jack for your own line?

if there is still service for the second line, you should call the phone company to cancel the service, if it is in your room mates name she may need to call to have it disconnected..

if it is an additional jack for your line, that you no longer want active, you can just disconnect, or cut the wire at the NID going to this jack

if you want to connect this jack you your existing phone line, you need to just move the wire at the NID from her old line to your existing line...
