I have talked to an alumnus from my university online. We are both working in a foreign country. I told him, I am looking for jobs. He told me, there are an opening position for me at his organization.

We will meet for a cup of coffee. We never seen each other in person. He is my father age. I really want to work at his organization, but I don't want to be desperated. How do I approach this?

Thank you.

  1. Don't say desperated in front of him...it's not a word.

  2. You just have that coffee with him and you will learn more about the company he works for.. you can ask him questions and he can recommend you.. that is quite alright and not desperate at all a lot of people get jobs because they have connections.. That is a good way to get a job.. through an acquaintance who recommends you .. then you have to send your resume to that company and hope that the boss will invite you for an interview.. all this guy you meet can do for you is tell his superior that he knows someone whom he believes would be an asset to the company but it's up to the boss of that organization if he invites you for an interview or not... not to this man.. he is only working there but he can put a word in for you in your favor so nothing to fear.. xx

  3. Act confident and calm. Trick yourself into thinking it doesn't matter if you get the job so you don't get nervous.
