Don't write us off based on a couple of performances, warns Dhoni - Cricket News Update
The Indian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, has urged the fans, the media and the opposition not to write his team off after the defeat last week in Melbourne, as they have a history of coming back strongly.
The formidable Indian batting line-up wilted in front of the young Australian pace attack, and ended up losing the first Test of four by 122 runs, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Dhoni was asked after the defeat, whether the fifth successive Test defeat overseas, proves that the Indian batsmen are unable to make big scores in bowling friendly conditions. The soft spoken Ranchi boy was quick to call the assessment premature.
"That's what you think," said the visiting skipper during the pre-match news conference at the Sydney Cricket Ground ahead of the second Test. "If you see the kind of players that we have got, that would be very a premature statement to make.
"Because what we have seen is that we have always bounced back. Australia will have to keep the pressure on the batting line-up and the bowlers as well. It's just that we haven't performed in the first test and we look to improve in the second," he maintained.
He was critical of his own batting performances overseas, as he has repeatedly failed with the bat but Dhoni was not going to hit the panic button just yet.
"I won't look to make too many adjustments because what I've learned over the last 15 years since my school days is it's very difficult to changes in just one series," said the 30-year-old wicketkeeper batsman when asked about his plans for the Sydney Test.
"What's important is to adapt well, look for where you are weak and try avoid the deliveries that can get you out," he added.
Dhoni was also hopeful that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 can make his much awaited hundredth international century sooner rather than later.
He was tight lipped when asked about India’s playing XI for the Sydney Test.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 currently lead the four-match series 1-0 and Dhoni will be hoping that his side comes back strongly into the series, by winning the Test match at Sydney.
