Question:

Don't you agree that people who are always picked on end up doing something great with life?

Seriously. I've heard about a lot of celebrities and other people who were always taunted as a child or were outcasted a lot times. Or they had Some great adversity. It always seems like, to me, that those same people end up doing something really great in life. What you think? Why do you think it is?

Would appreciate any answers! Thanks!

  1. No, I disagree.

I think a lot of people claim to have been outcasts as children when they really weren't.

Everyone gets teased at one point in time or another.  It doesn't make them special, it makes them normal.

And everyone has had a hard time or two.

  2. I would disagree.  I understand what you are saying but I think they focus on these great stories because the media needs to focus on them....especially if it's a great story to tell.

We all have hardships of some kind in our lives and crosses we each bear in some fashion or another.  Never judge a book by the cover or assume...and we each handle them differently.  Also, everyone of us has a life and choices we make.  That is exclusive to all of us.

But I think the examples you are referring to are just ones the media can sell to people and market them....especially if it's a good one.  There are many stories you don't hear; because many choose to respect their own privacy and others don't know them.  AGain - goes back to life and choices we all have.

  3. No, people who get picked on don't always do something great.

Some people use that torment to fuel their ambition and give them focus.  Those are the people who turn it into something positive.  Others just use it as something to feel bad about and blame their problems on.  Those people never geet anywhere.

  4. i think it really depends on the person, yes you hear about all these stars going through a lot of **** when they were younger, but there are also people who get picked on that cnt take it and end up with a f****** up life....it depends on strong the person can be....

all people go though some kind of bullying when they are younger and big celebrities juss exaggerate there sad stories so that people can fell bad for them, and understand that they really are normal human beings....

  5. I am sorry but I think that's faulty logic.

First, one does not necessarily lead to the other.  Sure, some great people were picked on or had to overcome great adversity; but that does not mean that they became famous or successful BECAUSE of the adversity.  While it is true that some people are of the personality and character that make them work harder to achieve success, it is also true that many great people become great DESPITE their adversities and not because of them.

Also, there are many others who were picked on or faced other adversities and became broken or defeated as a result.

  6. I was picked on and I was an outcast. I don't think I did anything great with my life, but I am trying my best to be a good person and contribute in my own way to making the world a better place. Although, one thing being an outcast has done for me is that I am a nonconformist and I have sympathy for people who are "different".

Here is my poem "My Childhood":

    My childhood

    ridicule like barbed wire

how did the children know this word

    contaminated

    this word contaminated

they threw at me like a volleyball back and forth

    they didn’t drop the ball

    contaminated the word holds

    some memories are never forgotten

    would this break you, reader

That’s how I learned the power of words,

    the holiness of each word

    each word like a statue

each word like a holy pagan god

that’s how I know the acidity of each word

    the science of brute force

    the torture of ridicule

the graphic design of those childish pagan gods

Were those children my pagan gods

Dredging up these memories from the sea beds

from the mud oozing between my toes

Contaminated heard in the classroom, playground,

the street where I lived, in the elevator going home,

this word followed me wherever I went

how would you bear it, reader

    No whispers, no shame

    the word said out loud

    without barriers

    with pointed fingers

    with proud laughter

    how would you suffer, reader

    They accused

    I stand falsely accused

like Piggy in the Lord of the Flies

Now and forever the eternal outcast

Now and forever absolved from fitting in anywhere

With brute force I write these words

  7. That sometimes happens when the person getting picked on has some type of talent. In other cases the kids are full of hate that they end up like the kids from Columbine or Virginia Tech.

I know this might sound cheesy but you should never pick on anyone, you don't know what they might do for revenge.
