  1. Well what else could he do after a beating like that?  But yes, he was gracious in defeat as he usually is right after a loss, with the world watching.  He likes to save the bitter comments for the post-match press conference, like after Andy Murray beat him in Dubai.

  2. Amazing Champion. Federer everything about him seems graceful. The way he plays and is gracious in both victory and defeat. He is a terrific role model and seems an amazing person. Compare him with Safina the day before, She was forced to be sporting in defeat but really she was bitter as she made remarks about Ivanovic's camp etc.

Yes Federer is elegant and gracious.

  3. Class, simplicity and humility, as usual.

  4. Yes I do he's a very respectful man.

  5. My opinion exactly. He was a class act in defeat. Even when John McEnroe gave him an opportunity to excuse the loss by suggesting tiredness as a factor, Federer dismissed the notion. It had to be a horrible experience, losing in the final for the third straight year (especially in such a bad way), but Roger handled it perfectly. He was nothing but respectful and gentlemanly in defeat. Full credit to him. And to Nadal. He was somewhat subdued in his celebration, presumeably out of respect for Roger. Nicely done, both guys.

  6. I don't think he had much of a choice with the whole world watching him. I'm sure inside he was thinking not so elegant thoughts.

  7. the first thing he said in the awkward situation where the audience, Rafa and all people on the stand were not sure what to say or what emotions to show, the first thing he said was the amazing icebreaker "oui, c'est moi!" everyone burst in laughter!! everyone was thinking that it couldn't have been federer out there!! admitting his weak performance in such a funny way and with such a graceful smile was a proof of how elegant he is..

do you also notice that Rafa did not celebrate his win in any way that could hurt his opponent's feeling, knowing how much he wanted the title, and feeling his sadness after the match... maybe he didn't feel the victory because it was such an easy one.. but still it's his 4th RG title and he would have shown some happiness like he always does if it weren't for his delicate feelings that refused to show off on the expense of the #1 player... unlike someone who once said "the king is dead" after defeating federer,or was it his mom?

Rafa kept emphasizing on how great a player federer is and how he regards him as a role model bec. he is the best player ever.

maybe the match wasn't that rich to watch, but the attitude of both players after the match was definitely something one would be privileged to have watched.

  8. We saw how two classy players handled a very difficult moment . Both were perfect in victory and in defeat. It is a pleasure and a privilege to have the top two players give us this example of fine behaviour.

  9. that is definitely not something to smile about...he's always failing on this slam...he will do the yelling, crying and cursing in his room or personal toilet for sure and not infront of millions of expectators......d**n this no more joke for him...and his chances of winning the slam it is getting limited each year but i still believe he can get one if nadal is out of the way.
