  2. I noticed that at Subway but not at Starbucks.

  3. Ive never noticed

I love subway we've just had a new one opened in town =] yummy!

Ive never tyed starbucks tho whats it like??

  4. The last time i was there two employees were so busy talking they didnt know they had a customer. They need to work on hiring more dedicated employees that want a paycheck and quit talking about how great there food is .Seems there is not much training there im with ya on this one

  5. Yes,the level of respect has dropped from where it was ten years ago.

  6. It's not just Subway and Starbucks.  It's like this at many fast food places.  When I was young, jobs like this were very hard to get and we were grateful to even have a job.  Managers were very strict, and I saw teens fired for what would seem like nothing at all these days.

I was in McDonald's recently, and there was a long line and only one girl behind the counter.  It was break time for her, and her friends were waiting at a booth.  She took the rubberband out of her hair, untucked her shirt (all behind the counter right in front of customers) and then just walked out into the dining area.  There was nobody left to take orders.  Everyone else was working frantically taking drive in orders, cooking, bagging food, etc.  The manager, if he even noticed, should have asked she wait or fired her for such behavior.

Oh, and now that you mention Subway, here's a good one.  A couple of weeks ago while my sandwich was being made, the girl dropped the knife on the floor as she was about to cut my sandwich.  She picked it up, paused trying to decide what to do, walked over to the sink and just rinsed the knife with water, dried it, and headed back towards my sandwich.  I asked her to please not cut my sandwich with that knife since it wasn't washed properly.  Then she didn't know what to do.  I told her just to not cut it.  Then the guy at the cash register took the knife to the back.  She got a knife from the food area, wiped it off and proceeded to use it.

These kids have been trained to do a job, and many of them either don't know how to think on their own or are afraid to because they don't want to get in trouble for doing something they haven't been told to do.  It's the first job for many of them.  It's kind of like the customer service person you call for your phone.  If the question isn't in his script, he has to put you on hold forever.

Technology is wonderful, but along with it the art of thinking has disappeared.  Why think when you can push a button?  I'm starting to think a course in common sense should be taught in high school and college.  I am not being sarcastic.  These are the people who will be running the world someday.

Watch Idiocracy if you haven't seen it.  It's an interesting movie about what our future could be like.

I know this is a lot and I could go on, but you asked!

  7. I guess it depends on the town you live in or maybe (my luck) the time of day you go. I notice louder people at a mcd or popeyes b4 at a starbucks. I usually go to starbucks in the morning. I have never had a bad experience at a Starbucks. Maybe because I live in the burbs of Chicago, and not in Chicago?

Finding the right employees is really tough. Sometimes people have a job because there is no one else to do it. Imagine not having the right employees and needing to keep the ones you have because you can't be at 2 positions at once.

  8. Oh yeah!  My husband and I went to Subway a week ago because it was too hot to cook.  The girl that took our order is young and had a bit of attitude (it was hot so I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt).  After we got our order we sat down to eat and the girl was waiting on another customer when another couple walked in.  For whatever reason the couple changed their minds and left.  When the customers were all gone (except for us), the girl with tude yelled out, "Why don't you have some patience you f****ng b***h!!"  Then she came around the counter and got the shock of her life when she saw us sitting there.  In all honesty, it was funny but she should've known better.

  9. Teens need to work to learn responsibility.  They can't get jobs outside customer service because they don't yet have degrees and have little, if any experience.  You were once that age, cut them a break.

  10. I agree -- Taco Bell is the same way!

  11. Very much so, whenever I go into subway they always make jokes of what to put in my sandwich like spit or whatever

  12. Very much so. I hate how they act as if they are doing you a favor by DOING THEIR JOB!

  13. around here they're all pretty good kids. but obviously that changes depending where you live.  they're not loud and obnoxious here and i'm a 30 something cranky female. lol.

  14. Yes the Subway in my small town always has 3 - 4 teenagers working when I go there and they're all super pissed off to have to stop their conversation and help customers.  I don't get why there's no manager on duty - very frustrating.

  15. And their toilets are often used for people's f***s as well!

  16. yes and i'm only 10

  17. If the employees are loud then I would not go there either.  Thankfully, the folks at my local Subway are not loud.  We don't have a Starbucks in my immediate area.
