and they end up killing them.........It pisssssssssssseeessssssss me off so bad! I always end up answering questions that sound a LOT like this " OMG! My pet ...........is dying, its just like lieing there! idk what to do, i'm soo sad!!?:'''''( " It is just so sad, that they get the pet, and never get the supplies the pet needs, and they end up asking a question like this. Pisses me off, but i keep on answering, because i care more about the pet then the person!

  1. I know it gets me mad too. You know what else annoys me. When they want a cheap dog under $100. I mean if you can't afford the animal don't get it at all. Also they ask us all the questions instead of going to the vet. People make me sad.

  2. who told you that....

  3. I HATE THAT! But the questions that I hate are these "I just got a  ____. What should I feed it?" How do you buy an animal and not know what to feed it? Some people are retarded. And they are on a computer that obviously has the internet and they can't look up these questions themselves. It makes since if they can't find what they are looking for or don't know what they are looking for, but most do they are just to stupid or lazy to do anything.

  4. Yeah, don't you hate it too?

  5. yea i know, my neighboor got a baby lizard or something then got another and with out knowing the next one he got grew about 2x the size of his first one and killed it!!!! it was really sad!!!

  6. I know what you mean, but think of it this way, at least they seem to be trying to help their pet.  They are just ignorant, and you are doing a good thing in helping.

I really really hate abusers and abandons more.

  7. Maybe not so much when you get an animal without doing extensive research prior to purchasing it (sometimes you get pets as gifts, there's instances where you don't have much control over it), but what annoys me is when even when you have the pet you don't bother to research.

I have a co-worker who was trying to give me lectures on how to keep turtles when I got my baby slider, but when I saw what she had it kind of made me feel like kidnapping the turtles in hopes of better accommodations for them.

Six turtles, mostly females, four cramped into a 20 gallon tank, no filter, no heater, and the other ones I believe live in a little kiddy pool that doesn't even let them submerge fully. No basking or resting areas for either of them. :( The poor turtles have been living with this woman for 7 years, and three other turtles have died so far. When I tell her about turtle care, she just says that she's had the turtles for longer than I have, and she knows more and such.

I was even more horrified when she told me that she kept the turtles when they were babies in one of those big cups you see at walmart, probably .25 to half a gallon of water. The poor turtles couldn't even move, but she thought it was adorable. :< Poor turtles...

  8. You know what my favorites are- "I think my dog might be pregnant...babys keep falling out of her...do you think this is serious?"

  9. yeah it makes me soo mad. i do that like ask questions about how to care for a certain animal... but ONLY after i have done a lot of research so i know i will get the right stuff... and i always ask BEFORE i get the pet.. at least a month before.... but it makes me so mad when people do that, its sad because they obviously aren't smart enough to figure out what to do if their animal is hurt. and if their not smart enough to figure that out then they obviously aren't smart enough to own that pet

and it ESPECIALLY bugs me when they ask if they can put this pet with this pet (ex: bearded dragon with salamander or somthin like that) because they dont have room for another tank... grrr some people

  10. Rips me apart, I've shed many a tear over that issue!

  11. I know before i got my leopard geckos i researched for a month before now they happy and healthy

  12. Yeah if you get a pet you should care for it. What I do is do research on the animal and think about if I have enough room and stuff. I have a lot of animals and I take great care of them! I hate seeing animals die of animal cruelty or not caring for the animal. Its sickening.

  13. Its horrible.

    Pets are living beings.

You are responcible for a life.

    Seriously. Do the research.

  14. oh yeah...

love to just strangle some people for what they do to defenseless creatures.

We run a rescue, and I am not gonna say that I have never ended up with a little critter I didn't know what to do with, BUT I always made sure the vet clued me in REAL quick.

I think that what people do usually falls into one of several categories...selfishness (I want I want), stupidity (I thought you were supposed to leave your dog outside all the time), or cruelty (my hamster bites me so I am not going to feed, water or clean up its cage until it quits biting.) also sometimes they just think it is funny.

Good luck with these people,  I don't have the patience to answer them.

  15. YES they are pulling timmys!!!

  16. Yeah, the "I just got a (insert helpless animal).  It's so cute, tell me what it eats", questions.

    GAAHHH!!!

This is one of my biggest pet peeves!

They wouldn't dream of googling it for themselves, much less walking their useless hides into a library.

Don't you wish there was a quiz or something before you could leave a pet store with a helpless animal?

Just THINK of the animals we could save.

  17. You have to know the personal information to the pet, maybe you want to know how old s/he is, or fe/male, even how trained it is.

I really consider to read about the pet, so you know how trained, healthy it is, and even if you are allergic to the pet... and the trainer/owner has to be nice to the dog then it will p**s the dog off and make the dog mad... lets hope people who don't read a Desc. are nice!

  18. Yes, it's annoying. I did about three months worth of researching before getting my two guinea pigs, and I still continue.

Now when they get sick, I know exactly what they have and I know what not to feed and what's ok.

I always hate is when people ask us how to help there "dying" pets while they should go to the vet! There was a question today that said, "My hamster has wet tail please help?" and like 12 min. after the hamster died. Go figure.

  19. I try to be polite but after a while I need to stop answering there questions and just say: GO ONLINE AND GET A CARE SHEET OR GO TO A VET!!!!! Sometimes I think that if I answer in the correct way, they won't do it, and it will die anyway.... really sad. Really ignorant.

  20. Yes, this is a sad issue, and recently I posted a Y! Violations Q of my own concerning animal abuse.  Are we supposed to idlly read that c**p, and do nothing about it?  Oh, it's okay to pose the inflamatory c**p in a Q, just as long as it's asked nicely/within guidelines, but you don't dare respond to it in the manner it needs to be addressed in!  I have the violations to prove it.

And I get tired of answering care questions, but I'm afraid if I don't, this might be the ONLY source most of the folks ARE using for info.  And if we don't give it - the animal may suffer all the more for it.

I was out here giving the ONLY "do not use sand" statement when I first came on Y! Qs, and I got some nasty snubs and mails over it, but I'm seeing more and people now saying "don't use sand for your lizards."  So, I don't care if I have to do the research and get the links out here - long as people are reading and using it/them.

But, yes, it gets tiring, and sometimes I just have to close answers for a while, and walk away.

The ones which burn me the most are 1.) Yeah, mom let me get it, but I can't spend money on it now.  2.) No, my parents won't let me take it to the vet.  3.) I can't AFFORD that.  (Well, they afforded the animal!) 4.) Tell me how to fix this.  I can't take it to the vet. 5.) Don't give me links - just TELL me! and 6.) The folks who don't like the answers they are getting, so ask the same thing over and over, posting many Q's.

We're all here for the same reason.  To help the animals.  The rest of the mess - we just have to turn a blind eye to and trudge on the best we can.

Kuddos to all of you, for the help you give.
