  1. My cat does this all the time. It is annoying and sometimes upsetting.

Ive learned to wait until my cat comes to me, then make a fuss.

She is very independent, so doesn't want to be made a fuss of really.

  2. Hi Ashley,

Yup, I can identify with you. I don't like it but:

I have learned that some cats can take just so much "cuddling" and then wiggle away as it is too stimulating for them to handle. They can feel confined and cats do not enjoy that feeling at all.

The best thing to do is to honor your kitty's feelings and when she is satisfied that you love her, and is feeling a bit uncomfortable, let her leave your embrace. She will learn that you respect her space and will love you more for that.

With all the many cats that I have had the pleasure to share my life with, only one purrmitted me to hold him like a stuffed toy cat. He loved it. All my other cats enjoy a few minutes of being held, and then want to do their "own thing".

But trying to hold a cat against its will is something that no cat lover really wants to do. Your cat may come around to being held longer, but right now it is just for the moment.

Cats generally love to sit on one's lap but not held there. They enjoy the safe feeling of being able to leave when they please.

Hope this helps and I know JUST what you mean!
