yes, i had to look after my cousin for the day and she ran up the escalator and everyone moved out of his way but when i ran after her no one moved, eventually i started shoving people out the way he he

If you're in that big of a hurry, take the stairs. Escalators are for folks that can't or don't want to climb stairs.

No! You're talking about a matter of seconds to ride an escalator!! If someone says "excuse me" I will move to the side, otherwise I won't. If someone is in that big of a hurry, they should have gotten there earlier. If you're already that late a few seconds won't help your situation. If someone one jumped right in front of me with impatience (Gina) I would find a way to push her down, and then apologize saying it was an accident.

Well some people think that they are alone in the universe! They shouldn't block the walkway, whether they know anyone is in a hurry or not. When people do that to me I walk impatiently around them, then pointedly walk directly in front of them. That reminds them :)

I live in Australia and we have an unspoken rule that you stand to the left of an elevator if you don't plan on walking up so people can walk up on your right.

People don't usually do this in shopping centers but if you don't stand to the left at Melbourne Central during the morning rush people will get VERY angry and tell you move in a not so happy manner.

No,l do not hate it.There is no hard and fast rule that you must keep to one side.....lf you are in a hurry,run up the stairs.
