Question:

Don't you just wish Federer was a few years younger?

I mean he is nearly 27 and Nadal has recently turned 22. There is nearly 6 years between them.

With Nadal now really getting the better of Federer surely Roger now takes his age into consideration? 27 is the beginning of the end in mens tennis nowadays for most players.

We saw the Wimbledon final and what a truely spectacular match that was. Will we see many more matches of that magnetude between these two players?

I really hope so and am willing Federer to now regroup and rise to the challenge of taking on Rafa Nadal once again. Rafa needs competiton!!! The competition is a major factor in his constant improvement.

The worst thing that could happen for tennis fans is seeing Rafa have it easy-I am sure Roger and Nadal fans would both agree with that. Aswell as neutrals such as myself

Thankyou,

What do you think?

  1. is he a wurzel?

  2. Exactly the same.  I think though he has a fight on his hands.

Federer is a tactitian and Nadal is a power house player.

I really hope he can work his way back to a title to get that all important record.  They are both amazing but different players.

Who is there coming on through who can challenge Nadal tho?

  3. Nadal's knees will blow up when he hits 23.  Don't worry.

  4. I totally agree with you it is similar almost to when Federer came on the scene whilst Sampras's career was coming to an end. I think if fed was a similar age to nadal it would be alot more interesting. I think looking at federer his groudstrokes are'nt as powerful as they were perhaps 2 or 3 years ago but to be honest i think federer still has what it takes to beat nadal and has 2 or 3 years of good tennis in him. But I mean now we have in the game Nadal, Murray, Djokovic, Gasquet(if he gets his head screwed on right) and fed, all of these guys have the potential to win a grand slam.  I think it is particularly exciting to see Murray developing at the mo coz when the guy is playing confident he just hits winners from everywhere and he has so much variety and strong hands. I think if u look at the younger players like murray/djokovic they are still developing especially murray and when in a year or two providing they don't get injured theses guys probably would of developed their game enuf to put pressure on rafa and even win against him. I think we just got to give it time. Coz there are a whole bunch young guys who want to improve and be the best.

  5. i just wish nadal hadn't played tennis

  6. yeah nadal will get his elbow and knees injured very soon.

  7. Roger is exactly where he should be, age and all. Roger is the reason why Rafa is as good as he is. They now remind of Chrissy and Martinia. When the rivalry began, Chrissy dominated. However, over time Martina began to dominate. What happened---Chrissy modified her style to remain competitive and it worked. Roger needs to do the same. Four years+ at the top, players change!

Pooh Bear, Roger is not the tactician you think he is. A good tactician changes his game plan as conditions warrant. Rafa is better at that than Roger. Roger comes into a match with a game plan that he does not alter even if it is not working. This was really evident in Toronto. Rafa makes adjustments throughout---that is a true tactician!

Bottom line---Roger needs to realize that he has to make changes in his game and thinking to remain in the game.
