So, I posed the question about leaving the public eye to spank and those answers led to this question? Is being hit pretty humiliating whether other people see or not?

  1. yup

  2. I also spank my 5 year old on occasion. He was responsible for choosing his paddle at the store when we purchased it. If he doesn't want to be embarassed (which, as a 5 year old, he has not yet developed that emotion to begin with!), then he needs to behave and not do something that will get him spanked. I do not spank him very often but I simply will not tolerate certain things like talking back or behaving badly in public. I've even taken him out of Church and had him yell the whole time "Please I don't want to get a swat!". That was way more embarassing for me I have to say. But I will not allow him to be a brat and if that means getting spanked, then that is just the way it is.

  3. NO.............BUT BY WHOM? YOUR WIFE? WELL THEN YES.

  4. how is it humiliating if nobody knows it happened??? unless the child tells people thier self because i doubt the parent would go around bragging about it

  5. Yes it is.  If you think about it, would you as an adult be humiliated if someone spanked you, whether in public or not?  Of course, now imagine being a child with a still developing sense of self, it would be even more humiliating.

  6. yes it is

  7. I don't believe in spanking period.  It teaches the child nothing other than the fact that hitting when one is frustrated or angry is acceptable behavior.  It also teaches the child that the parents are not intelligent enough to behave beyond that of apes and spanking does not instill respect in children, it instills resentment and fear as well as total disrespect when they become older.

  8. A simple swat on the tush with an open hand is NOT hitting a child, so you need to get that straight right off. I would never HIT my kids but I would spank them if they got super crazy for whatever reason. Thankfully, I don't have to. I personally was spanked only once as a kid, and was slapped across the face hard once too. I deserved it and I know that~~you DON'T talk back to your mom, no matter what!

Personally, I feel that the lack of discipline that we have in the US has led to such things as ADHD, which I don't believe is real. I can say this because NO ONE had it when I grew up! We respected our elders and stayed in check or knew there would be a punishment. I'm confused with what's wrong with that?

  9. i cant believe so many people think its ok to hit there children my children r never hit and have bin taught 2 b good by sending them 2 a spot to think about what they have done there is al ways another way to teach a child respect and i don't think hitting or spanking what ever u want to call it it all means the same ur hurting a child to make them see things ur way if its in public or not

  10. I am guessing you do not have kids.  If you do it right then no.  I do it because I believe the Biblical principal.  Spare the rod spoil the child.  If you would like to judge my religious beliefs, that is fine.  I tell my daughter no first and if she does it again then she will be spanked.  If she does it again then I take her to another room and explain why she is getting spanked.  She then gets spanked and she is allowed to cry without screaming.  When she is done she apologizes to whomever and she is off playing again.  You guys all think we must beat them all the time which is sadly untrue.  I had to spnk her in the beginning a lot but now when I say no, she listens.  I take her into a store and if she does something then I tell her no and she stops and apologizes.  I have had people stop me to tell me they cannot believe how good she is for a 2 year old.  I spank her MAYBE every couple months now.  Maybe you should post a more specific question about being hit as to getting spanked.  They are different.  I did spank in public once and I did have the cops called on me.  I let them check her over and they asked other people what happened and the cop came over and said I could go and that it was nice to see a young couple who finally did not let their kid tell them what to do.
