Don't you think it's about time speeding cop cars were stopped.?

Question

So many innocent people of late have been killed by the inexperienced policemen behind the wheel of a speeding cop car. Surely there are other ways of dealing with car crime.

The police wondered why the friends of the young lass that was killed this week by a speeding cop car showed their anger. What do the police expect when people are seeing others mowed and killed by a speeding cop car.

What are your views please?

I guess the real question is would you want to know that cops would be coming to help you as soon as possible if you were ever in trouble yourself or not?

They should be trained and everthing but sometimes they speed for a reason.

If police were not allowed to chase anyone it could lead to some dire consequences. Drivers could literally do anything they wanted to, knowing the cops couldn't stop them.

There are enough idiots on the road as it is. I can only imagine what it would be like if they didn't have to worry about the police. Every motorist would be placed in danger.

As it now stands, many police departments will call off a chase if it becomes too dangerous. I cannot argue with that. But to completely put a stop to pursuits is asking for trouble.

Yes, chases sometimes end in tragic situations. But so do the actions of bad drivers. Instead of blaming the police, how about placing some responsibility on the ones truly at fault - the ones who initiate the chases?

i totally agree and i think cops need to be fined when they put on their lights and sirens just to get around traffic! so many times I have seen cops put on their lights just so you will pull over so they can move on up the road! it is ridiculous!

I know there are good cops out there..

But few far in between. They use their power for their own evil little pleasure. They focus on insignificant things when they should be worried about others.

Put it in context. It is very rare. That's why it makes the news.

How many people are killed by normal drivers ?

And was the person looking where they was going.

Did the car loose control and kill them on the pavement or did they not look properly when crossing the road.

Your house has been burgled, the police are called and as they arrive they see the burglars driving off at 31mph

Buts its OK because the police will not bother to chase them instead they will track them down by fingerprints 2 weeks later and give them a slap on the wrist, And is OK that all your possessions are gone because you where insured anyway ?

Yes I agree with you 100 percent, stopping the police from speeding would cause less accident worldwide.........

They have all of the resources to handle crime and there is no reason for them to speed.

they deffinately should keep to the limit in built up areas,

and only drivers that are specially trained should break the speed limit in exeptional cases(persuits on motorways and suchlike)

but every case is different and if at the time someones life depends on a quick response then speed would have to be considered.

far more people get knocked down by the anti speed camera brigade and the i'm in a hurry for work gang than the police

life is harsh and sadly some people get hurt or killed by people in the process of helping others
