Melamine, a chemical found in plastics and pesticides and not approved for use in pet or human food here in the U.S. Since March 16, more than 100 brands of pet food have been recalled because of contamination.

Now farm raised fish have been contaminated with this. We are to be assured that the amount in the food is too low to bother humans. And with all the other lies, we are suppose to believe this? Why not pay our own farmers a decent price and buy from them. Why import from these other places. It is beyond me. You don't know what to eat nowdays or what to feed your animals.e they were contaminated with melamine.

I'm surprised that the government doesn't check how other countries manufacture or raise things and make sure that if we are going to buy from them, it is done to our specifications. Oh, wait, that would make too much sense. If they can get it cheaper, buy it and keep your fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong.

  1. I do think its time we stopped importing poison from china h**l its time we stopped importing anything china mexico india, canada etc... We never had so many problems in the 50's no pets were dying if you were able to work you probably could find a job lets all stop supporting china/wal-mart and bring back manufacturing to the U.S.of A.  Be American buy American

  2. I think its time we stop importing anything from China; particularly poisoned food.  The Chinese have little regard to life and view it as cheap and disposable.  They definitely can't be trusted since they have a different set of values than the west.

  3. YES.  A lot of products from China are not healthy...even the ones you don't eat.  But the trade imbalance with this country is our own fault because of our insatiable demand for the lowest prices.  We can counter this by being smarter shoppers:

    - buy American, or at least from responsible countries...even if it isn't the cheapest. Avoid products that violate fair trade.

    - support your local farmers and farmers markets

    - eat whole foods (less processed foods)

    - buy durable products that don't become obsolete so fast...it's sad how much of a throw-away society we are...thanks to our own marketing.  Avoid being a slave to owning 'the latest and greatest new thing'.

BTW, buying a product in China is worse than buying a product that was imported from China.  I had a friend who bought a sealed Yoga mat in China.  When she got home, she opened it and found the mat to be oily with a horrible stench.  The stinky oil got on her hands and she couldn't wash it off easily...she threw the product away.  Chinese products that are made for export are a step up in quality (but are still low quality) because they don't want these products to be rejected at U.S. borders.  I try to avoid Chinese products whenever possible because of their trade practices and poor quality standards.
