Ok as most of you who "know me" on here know that I was a Curlin fan ever sense we ran the Rebel Stakes. I fallowed him ever sense then up until now and I could not be any-more proud of him. I actually made a youtube video on him if you want to see it here it is...

and I also made a Barbaro video here it is...

Now I was wondering if in a few months, is it possiable that me and my family could go and see Curlin where-ever he is being held at? Would they let us? I would love this SO much you can't believe! So if you could give me any ideas that would be GREAT!

Thanks a LOT!

  1. You can just go back in the barns and pet all the horses if you like!

I don't know where he is going to be. It might be Keeneland or Belmont or anywhere!

    I LOVE YOUR VIDS!!!!

  2. Most farms do allow visitors.  You have to call and make an appointment and spots are usually limited on tours.  You can specifically request when you call to see Curlin and sometimes they will go get the horse and bring him out so you can look at him.  I know they used to do that at Claiborne when people would ask to see Secretariat.

I don't think Curlin is retired yet... I mean I don't think his breeding rights were sold with a contract that he would retire after his Classic run today...  so I don't know where he will retire to, so I don't know how that farm will handle visitors.  For now, you could write to Steve Asmussen or George Bolton and ask for autographed pictures and if you would be allowed to visit.  I think visitors are much more welcome on farms than around the backstretch because trainers don't want you working up their horses, but you could always try.  I don't know how you would get either of their contact info though.

  3. Nice videos Mel.

  4. Great video's!! I cried watching them.I am feeling sad about "Barbaro" and "George Washington".If you can find out where "Curlin" will be at stud, you can call the farm and see if they have visiting hours or tours.Good luck Barbaro! I hope you can visit "Curlin" sometime real soon.

  5. Well, no you can't just "go to the barns" and visit any horse you like. They are highly restricted access areas (as they should be!) and you must be licensed in that state. Even then you cannot just wander down any shedrow stopping and visiting with every horse.

You would have to make arrangements through the owner or trainer and one of them will sign you in and accompany you. Most (but not all) will be accomodating.

If you don't know how to contact these people directly try contacting the Race Office and explain what you are looking for, they may help put you on the right track. Good luck!
