Don't you think she was acting desperate by talking about her special needs child?

Why make people feel sorry for you? There are plenty people with special needs children out there (my aunt being one) and she didn't need to BEG for their votes...

Definitely! She would have never even mentioned special needs children if hadn't happened to her.  It was kind of disgusting!

well, i am not sure it was desperate, but it was certainly a ploy. my problem with it is this: if she is going to invoke her youngest, helpless child in her political discourse, then she can not turn around and say the older, pregnant one is off limits. of course, the trick for the republicans is that they know barack will not go there -- he'll keep it clean where the kids are concerned. so that allows mccain's camp to talk about what they want when they want. this aspect is one of the few smart things about this choice. that and her obvious likeability and public speaking skills. but it doesn't matter --or at least it shouldn't. her politics SUCK, she does not stand for things that will ultimately help families, and the pandering to moms and women is insulting. also, i feel terrible for that baby. how can she be so concerned about a special needs baby and yet be trying to get a job that will take her away from him most of the time? terrible parenting. terrible parenting, terrible politics, terrible ploy. U-G-H. really.

She loves that baby.  Why would you feel sorry for her - she never said anything like that.  She said people like your aunt would have an advocate.
