Well well well, it is 23:08 and have just watched the late-night news on Itv1. Now for the first time i could see the exactly what happened and what all the hype was all about. I thought someone mentioned that it was an initiation but it did not look like that to me. From what i could see it was cleaners at the University who those idiots were making fools of. I appeal to everyone out there and those on here , please don't think all Afrikaanse people are like that. Since i have been a child we were taught to respect all people of race , creed and colour. In turn my kids were taught the same . I found that Afrikaans people from the S-Coast , Durban are were much more tolerant, respectful and spoke decent to those who worked for them during the Apartheid years than the Afrikaners from the Freestate and Transvaal. Why was that , i am still wondering about that. I am not impressed at all. And Ashamed.

  1. Bad news is reported far more than good news.  In fact there are frequently days when there's no good news reported at all.  Not because there is no good news, just that they seem to believe it far better that we all remain fearful and concerned about events that we can never possibly change than hear good things about local incidents.  Good news gives people hope, which the mass media doesn't want people to have.

  2. I was at work this morning when it showed on tv. (UK as well)

I was cringing, and walked out to get busy somewhere else before they could ask me about it.

I am from the old Western Transvaal, by the way, but still know how to treat others with respect. I suppose our part of the country was a lot more "traditional" than the others, and not as cosmopolitan.

    Still, that video is yuk.

  3. Yes its what people wanna hear.

  4. Anybody with an ounce of sense knows that you can't tar a whole nation with the one stick.

However, you will get the odd crackpot, quite rightly condemning these actions, but assuming that 'they're all like that'.

  5. Yes bad news does travel fast. It travels fast because people are more interested in bad news than good news. They like to gossip about things and make trouble so bad news is more interesting to them.
