Her youngest daughter was holding Trig and slicking down his hair? That truly was the best. Obviously, that had more substance than Palin's entire speech last night.

  1. Everybody has family issues.  Give her a break at least she has accomplished to become a successful governor, that is not an easy job!

  2. Nope I thought the best part of her speech was all the (proven) lies she told!!! haha...

But Yes I think her family is very adorable and they all take care of that little boy and I think it is sweet

  3. The best part was when Sarah said "I was a mayor - which is like a community organzier, except I had actual responsibilities."

  4. short on substance just as you point out...

long on propanganda and apple pie imagery.

    "God's war?"

She could be a heartbeat away from the presidency. Holy war is getting very old and very scary.

  5. How much marijuana was she smoking when she named her kids?

Let's see, a 17 year old pregnant daughter... admits to use of marijuana but says "she never enjoyed it" LOL...

Is she a republican?  What world am I in?

Does anyone else see her for what her real purpose is?

McCain wants to talk about Obama not having the experience to be the president?? HELLLLOOOO!  Just because Palin is pretty doesn't mean you should overlook her faults!  America certainly did not overlook Hilary's!

  6. It was.

  7. Who cares about her daughter. I liked her speech as much as Biden's and Obama's speeches they where full of BS.

However any Obama Supporter who keeps bringing up Palins daughter Just makes me want to vote republican more and more. Start Caring about the issues instead of who knocked up her daughter. No one's perfect and at least she had the decency to say that they have the same struggle as many other Americans. HMMMM wonder what she was advocating there? Oh wait, I know. Her daughter.

So can some one ask a question now that doesn't deal with the retarded gossip that we usually see in star magazine.

Insults offer nothing but to make people uneducated. if you want to support Obama or McCain ask question that could possibly further one's knowledge of the candidates So people can make sound judgment. So far a lot not all of the answers just fall into the useless Drama that makes them look dumber than they probably are. Come on people I know you are smarter than this.

  8. The strongest part of her speech was when she finally stopped talking.

  9. I know....how sweet was that:)

  10. Had to be.  I noticed some things looking through the transcript of her speech that are worth mentioning.  She copied Obama and talked about change.  McCain has been in Congress long enough to have changed things, but he voted with Bush 90% of the time, and  nothing changed in all those years.

She talked about how she and McCain's wanted to serve the people, but McCain said something completely different in his memoirs:

"I didn't decide to run for president to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be president because it had become my ambition to be president. . . . In truth, I'd had the ambition for a long time."

She said she had said no to the Bridge to Nowhere:

"I told the Congress "thanks, but no thanks," for that Bridge to Nowhere.

If our state wanted a bridge, we'd build it ourselves."

But this article from the Boston Herald tells a different story:

"Palin for ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ before she was against it

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - When John McCain introduced Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate Friday, her reputation as a tough-minded budget-cutter was front and center.

"I told Congress, thanks but no thanks on that bridge to nowhere," Palin told the cheering McCain crowd, referring to Ketchikan’s Gravina Island bridge in Alaska.

"But Palin was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it.

The Alaska governor campaigned in 2006 on a build-the-bridge platform, telling Ketchikan residents she felt their pain when politicians called them "nowhere." They’re still feeling pain today in Ketchikan, over Palin’s subsequent decision to use the bridge funds for other projects - and over the timing of her announcement, which they say came in a pre-dawn press release that seemed aimed at national news deadlines.

"I think that’s when the campaign for national office began," said Ketchikan mayor Bob Weinstein on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Weinstein noted, the state is continuing to build a road on Gravina Island to an empty beach where the bridge would have gone - because federal money for the access road, unlike the bridge money, would have otherwise been returned to the federal government.

Palin told the crowd she had signed a major ethics law - an appropriately modest claim, because although she pushed for the ethics changes, the main impetus had come from state legislators, especially minority Democrats."

She also said about Barack Obama:

"But listening to him speak, it's easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform — not even in the state Senate."

Sarah Palin lied when she said Barack Obama had authored “no major law, not even in the state senate.” This is just a bald-faced lie. In fact, just in the US Senate, Barack Obama passed the most sweeping reform package since Watergate, and reached across party lines to pass, with Senator Lugar, legislation to help keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of terrorists and, with Senator Coburn, legislation to create a revolutionary database that makes government more transparent and accountable.

Palin said:  "Victory in Iraq is finally in sight ... he wants to forfeit."

The Republicans keep attacking Barack Obama’s plans for Iraq, even though the Iraqi government AND THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION just signed an agreement that follows the plan Barack Obama has been advocating for months.

It’s the same thing on negotiations and diplomacy. Sarah Palin attacked Barack Obama for holding the position that the Bush Administration has belatedly been forced to adopt: holding direct talks with Iran. We’re too strong a country to be afraid of talking to Iraq.

Palin said:  "Taxes are too high ... he wants to raise them. His tax increases are the fine print in his economic plan, and let me be specific."

    - Sarah Palin and John McCain lie and claim that their plan is better for people like us. They don’t cut taxes for us much, and wipe out that cut with their plan to tax our health benefits!  Barack Obama actually cuts middle class taxes to try to restore fairness that was lost under Bush.

Barack Obama’s plan only raises taxes on people with individual incomes over a quarter-million dollars.

Her speech was written by former Bush speech writer, Matthew Scully.  The only change I saw was that, unlike Bush, she could read the words really well.

  11. I kept waiting for someone to tell the little girl to stop using her spit though, but I guess no one watches those kids.

It was pretty standard for convention speeches, nothing at all substantial, its not supposed to be a place for serious discussions of plans, its a party for those who worked in their primaries, its mostly a time for the base to come together and congratulate themselves on getting their man in.

Later on comes, I hope. the issues the plans, and if the Republicans have any, the dreams.

Anne, the degree of the babys flaccidity is not a good sign, many DS babies are only mildly  affected, this doens't look to be one of those times.

  12. I agree. Actually, when she was speaking about her family was the only part of her speech I could stomach. That little Piper is adorable.

  13. I would vote for her duaghter before I vote for Palin.

  14. And I still wonder what that women did to get her escorted out.

  15. You must have had those Ipod earplugs in your ears.  Think you got your wires crossed.  Obama was the all talk no action speech giver.

......but he might have been a good community organizer.

  16. Little substance.

But as a disability advocate, I was a bit preoccupied with the fact that the baby was non-responsive/asleep the entire time he was in that hall. Normally a child with downs syndrome has a serious issue with noise. Trig looked drugged.

  17. but her child combing the baby's  hair had nothing to do with anything...maybe they could have got a shot of Bristol's bf rubbing her stomache too...why didn't Palin discuss anything about how she could  make America better?  Instead she bashed Obama and made jokes about soccer moms...come on.

    Obama all the way!

  18. Well, I think she delivered a very passionate speech.

I don't think it had much substance, no matter how well-performed.

I was shocked she winked and blew kisses at several points, though.

  19. It was pretty gross.

They only part I liked is when she said that she put the luxury jet that was passed down to her from the former Republican on Ebay.  That's all though.

  20. When she called out your community organizer...I love it. And when she said....Change for the country...not for personal career....Lets see; energy, taxes, terrorism and background...Yea there was alot of substance there...if you listen...Zero, Zero, Zero, USA, USA, USA...you probably did not hear it over the liberal crying....

  21. Lmao.,..that was the only part that was good

  22. The best part was when she said she was not going to court the good opinion of the media.

As for her "community organizer" remark, who was it that opened the door to that? It was Obama's own people. I STILL do not know what Obama actually DID. And they STILL have not come up with anything better.

So their argument is basically: "We want to elect him and we don't CARE if he has no executive experience. And we will say flippin' ANYTHING, even LIE, about the GOP to stop people from voting the McCain/Palin ticket. Because we believe that he can wave a magic wand and give all of us pie in the sky. We don't know HOW he's gonna do that. Maybe even HE doesn't know. But we don't care."

If ALL they can do is go negative against their rivals (and that's all they've BEEN doing), the only conclusion can be that there is something wrong with their candidate, and they know it.  And Obama's not gonna help them out there by giving them something to hang their hats on - because there is nothing THERE.

  23. I didn't watch the speech because I had to work but it is REAL sad if that was the most profound part of her speech, can't wait til Biden rips them a new one.

    LOL Crabby McCrabby!!!

  24. That was very touching, but very disturbing knowing that young'un is going to grow up to be a Republican.  Where was Bark, and where was Widget last night? I only saw Willow and Track, oh and Trig.

  25. Obviously there was no point in you watching it.  It seems you had your mind made up before it ever began.
