Any draft is political suicide.  

Also, tell me what are we trying to defend that constitutes a full scale mobilization of our military?

No ----- We don't need the Enemy in our Military camp! My solution is just raise taxes big time on all Male NON Vets that are physically capable to serve. They can stay home and pay the taxes big time, like 50 % minimum!

I believe that the draft during Vietnam proved once and for all that a military not made up of volunteers is one you can't completely count on. I believe that the military leaders don't ever want to have to deal with a bunch of young men who don't want to be there.

You don't seem to know what a draft is,

If we had a draft today, no one would actually be drafted.

A draft allows the military to conscript enough people to meet the manning levels set by Congress,

If not enough people volunteer.

Since we already meet the manning levels with volunteers.

A draft would do nothing.

A draft DOES NOT increase the size of the military.

Only Congress can do that.

Something they already did back in 2004 when they increased the Army by 70,000 and the marine Corps by 20,000.

I think so. In fact i feel like everyone should have to serve two years of some sort of public service. It doesn't have to be the military, but everyone should have that obligation.
