Don Averia convincingly wins Boy’s Singles title at Pan Am Junior Championships – Badminton news
Don Averia, one of the best players in younger lot of USA, showed a staggering performance and easily wrapped up Boy’s Singles U11 title at the XXII Pan Am Junior Championships Individual Event 2013 on Sunday, July 28, in Sweden.
In the final battle, the in-form Averia put up a stunning show and easily outplayed Brazil’s Davi C. Silva by consuming jut 20 minutes in the arena.
The top seeded Averia played tremendous badminton by remaining in complete command of rallies all the way. He did not lose his focus at any stage and easily finished up the match in straight sets with a staggering 21-6 and 21-5 score on the board.
Meanwhile, the un-seeded Davi could not continue his giant killing run as he was helpless against the perfect play of his challenger. He could not show aggression in the title battle and lost it in a completely lopsided manner.
Right from the opening points, Averia remained in complete control of rallies and he did not take much time in setting up a smashing lead. He remained comfortable in playing fast and positive game and kept his rival on the back foot.
The Brazilian shuttler tried to put up strong show but he could not utilise his skills against the attacking play of his opponent and remained far behind until the one-minute break in the starting set.
After the interval, the higher ranked Averia again showed a great performance on court by playing with variations. He did not take much time in grabbing the opening set with a stunning 21-6 score on the board.
In the following game of this final encounter, Silva tried to show aggression but he was completely out of touch and remained struggling. He committed many errors allowing his opponent to build a huge lead until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Averia stayed calm and composed without showing any sort of urgency. However, he remained quick and did not allow his opponent to get close on the board. He sailed smoothly and took the second game with a huge margin of 21-5 and emerged
as the title winner.
